Also do I have to remove drivers vent panel on left side to remove lower dash panel beneath steering column ? And how in the world do you do you pull and remove this panel without breaking latches and claws....it has a bolt on each lower corner and I think 5 other latch claws....feels like things will break and is held really tight.

Top tip: Buy the black TT pieces. I painted mine, the door handles flake close to the edges the mirrors and grille get chips from the hwy driving I do. The silver shows through the chips. The toyota tt parts are molded black plastic chip them and they stay black.. bits I'll eventually buy tt bits.

Mine was already damaged so I had a good grip on it, but a well formed one might again be difficult to remove. The cowl itself can be most easily loosened starting on the outside. The two clips B on the outside break relatively easily when pulling the cowl upwards - so only do this if you have replacement clips.

toytaco got it pretty good. I recently did mine. Just go slowly when removing the panel. Use a nylon prybaby. Also the lower panel is not two piece, although it looks to be. The two plastic pieces are melted together on the backside. You have to remove it as one piece.

Re: DASH AND CONSOLE PANELS REMOVAL: Instructions w/ pics Good stuff, Steve. I have one caution for these side vent pieces. Be careful to pull straight out from the dash. I let mine slip once and it clipped the articulating mechanism that open/closes the vent, breaking off the little pin that sticks out (seen in pic #3 below).
